Results of 2010 National Western Stock Show
This year's NWSS was more successful than last year's first alpaca show at the National Western. And for those of you who are not totally familiar with this event, the 2010 edition drew a total of 633,000 people during it's two week run.
We took Renior and Cezanne to the show and they came through very nicely. Renior came in 3rd in his group of 11 whites, and Cezanne took the Blue Ribbon in his group of 11 "darks". Cezanne becomes a 1st Place male, who is the son of our 1st Place male (Lavender Fields' Lancaster), who is the son of multiple 1st Place and Color Champion female (Sunny Mesa Augusta), who is the granddaughter of Augusto...need we say more? Proud? You bet.
Results of the Great Western Alpaca Show 2010
First of all, the show was, once again, terrific. Tsulan was the coordinator of the Silent Auction, and ABR was able to present a wonderful selection of merchandise and services. And the evening's auctioneer was...Tom. This was quite a surprise to everyone, including Tom.
Lillie Gay took a 6th Place ribbon in her True Black class, Madelyn took a 2nd Place ribbon in her Dark Brown class, and Lady Li took the 3rd Place ribbon in her mixed class of greys.
Once again, we saw a lot of friends at the show that we don't get to see that much of, and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. It's a long way off, but we look forward to GWAS 2011.
Shearing Day 2010
Shearing Day was once again a fun and exciting day. We had a group of hard working friends who came and gave us their time to get all of that beautiful fiber off of our alpacas. And we now have three males who hit the 9 pound (total) mark. Aviator, Lancaster and Shakespeare. Over 27 pounds of fleece from 3 males, that's wonderful. Especially since it's great fiber.
