Lavender Fields' Julia
Sire: High Plains Aviator
Dam: Chocolate Peruvian Isabella Jaxon
DOB: June 13, 2010
Julia is our first cria of 2010 and we could hardly have hoped for anything more. She is the third cria produced by Aviator and Isabella, and as we've seen with Lillie and Madelyn, she looks great. Just look as the character on this picture. She's got crimp and brightness galore, along with the Aviator density. Look for her at next year's Great Western Alpaca Show in Denver, and who knows...maybe the 2011 Nationals.
As is our habit, we've decided that this year's artist category is chefs. Yes, we consider chefs to be wonderful artists. And Julia is named after...well, you know. The chef who is responsible for bringing cuisine to the US, Julia Child.

Lavender Fields' Cat Cora
Sire: High Plains Aviator
Dam: Lavender Fields' Genevieve
DOB: June 18, 2010
Cat is beautiful. No doubt about it. She's got the great genetics that come from her parents, Genevieve (Brock) and Aviator (Super Sam). She's got the head, the fleece, and the strong bone structure that will make her a head turner in the show ring. Did we say she's beautiful? Once again, just by looking at the attached picture, you can tell that her fleece has got character.
One of the Food Network shows we love to watch is "Iron Chef America", so we've decided to name this girl - Cat Cora. Cat is the only female Iron Chef, who comes from the South and has a Greek background. Our Cat lives in Colorado and has a Canadian sire, making her a great addition to the North American herd.
Once again, Aviator has hit the mark...Please, come see these crias.

Lavender Fields' Emeril
Sire: Lavender Fields' Alexandre
Dam: Lavender Fields' Colette
DOB: June 27, 2010
Alexandre & Colette produced a winner on their first time out...BAM! Yes, this little guy was named after Chef Lagasse, who any 'Foodie' knows, is famous for his outlandish style and recipes. Our Emeril is as wild in the paddock as Chef Lagasse is in the kitchen.
Emeril is a beautiful chocolate brown with all of the attributes that his Sire and Dam have. He's got the energy, the looks and the charisma that will draw the females in when it gets to be time for breeding in a couple of years.
And like his namesake, check out those eyebrows.

Lavender Fields' Giada
Sire: Lavender Fields' Lancaster
Dam: Peruvian Sierra MHA
DOB: July 3, 2010
Before she was shorn, Giada had the look that tells you at a glance...there is character inside that fleece. Even afterwards, you can see it, even on this little picture. But what would you expect from these two Blue Ribbon-winning parents?
She's a ball of fire and usually starts the evening playtime for the crias. If you haven't seen the babies enjoying a good run a dusk, then you haven't been watching. Come on out to Lavender Fields' and see for yourself.
Our little girl is named after the granddaughter of Dino de Laurentiis, Giada. She's one of the stars of the Food Network, and the inspiration for her naming.

Lavender Fields' Pepin
Sire: Lavender Fields' Lancaster
Dam: Marisole
DOB: July 4, 2010
And finally, Pepin...who decided to come into the world "wrong end first". He did a lot to make a holiday weekend anything but dull. He started his life with a trip to the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Have no fear, he and his dam are both okay, and enjoying life with a lot less excitement than on his first day, the 4th of July.
He's got some pretty nice fleece, with the character of his sire, and the color of his dam. He'll do well. Especially being named after Jacques Pepin, the world famous French pastry chef.
